The Salvaged

Shark and Donamit had stolen a silver box at the village shrine dedicated to the Igbada god of the Niger. The instinctual young men were digging the rocky ground along the Niger Promontory to secrete the stolen silver box before a tall dull black scourge appeared looking up at the young men with scowl. The two young men took to their hills returning to the main land by a canoe.

So luckily they secured the silver box. By midnight they had broken the seal to discover it contains white cloths, jewelries and spiritual books. The instigators Shark and Donamit had no insight on the insidious effect of the stolen box. Their search ended with finding a human skull and red candles rapped in a long red cotton robe. They could hear whispering and scuffling on the door side. The black scourge appeared the second time demanding they serve him and become rulers. The monster had given them keys, gold rings for power and afterwards disappeared.

Three months later, they dominated and became famous and chief rulers of strange and primitive Community near the Southern Niger coast. The Egbeda is an oil rich community of about five hundred thousand people settling as indigenes of which most dwellers are fishermen and craftsmen. It became a promulgation that indigenes would bow down before their god in worship. The tattoo of the famous Igba god could be found on the elbows of the villagers and strangers alike. The Egbeda community had expanded in her territory due to the influence of the famous rulers.

The two rulers had separated from each other for sake of power sharing and the kingdom divided into two; the Igra and Lomen. Shark had kept the laws of the Igba god, got married with three kids while the greedy Donamit neglected Igba god, got married to 24 wives and 30 concubines with limitless number of children.

Some white men on exploration came to settle at Igra. Thus the Igra community became civilized and known to the international community due to their enormous export of crude oil. The Lomen community ruled by the Donamits after ten years became a tourist attraction community with lots of recreation facilities. The Donamits ungodly cultures were similar to that of the Sodom and Gomorrah made up of restive, insolent and promiscuous youths. This brought about several deserters and dead of many pregnant women and children.

Fifteen years had past when the flood devastation became a major problem of the Lomen community. The lumen community fought the Igra community and was defeated. Donamit and his kingdom were drown and devoured by sea creatures as they tried to escape through the Atlantic Ocean during the war. Now the kingdom of the Donamits abruptly came to an end as her indigenes were sold into slavery by the Igra community to the white men from Ethiopia.

King Shark sold the god of Igba to foreigners from Asia before year 1832. He was stricken dead by the monster 1833 (i.e. six months after). It was then that vengeance came to ruin children below the age of 12. People suffered and died of body tumors. The kingdom has gone extinct due to huge loss of lives. The sharks' kingdom after thirty five years had produced another ruler Obene (Smallest by name) the former king's son. Obene was a trained military, studied in the UK and nurtured by the Christian community there for several years. He brought Christianity contrary to their tradition in the community through the missionary from Ireland.

A new Igra community emerged as Emeruah (Meaning 'Salvaged People') after 5 years. Village churches were built and indigenes trained on the Christian teachings. People experienced a new life in the Lord Jesus Christ. Investors came in to invest while monuments were built. Religious men and women of Emeruah are now sent on Christian missions abroad to preach the good news of Christ Jesus learned from the Ireland missionaries. Praise be to Jesus now and forever!
